Earlier this week I went to the launch of the West Ham United Foundation’s 2016 Lycamobile Cup.
The cup has 84 local teams from the under 12 and under 14 categories competing and no shortage of talent. I am looking forward to following the competition’s progress over the season, and have no doubt that the finals day in April will be tightly fought!
It is inspiring to see such an interest in the game at a junior level and it is important for us to develop this. Events like the Lycamobile Cup 2016 are crucial to discovering and helping young talent early on. Growing up it was tournaments like this that helped me to realise that one day I could play in the Premier League. It all starts here.
There is some incredible young talent at West Ham and I would say to all the players, work hard, have fun and believe in yourself.
